Top 5 Tips for Organising a Successful Team Building Event

5 December 2023

Team building events are powerful tools for improving team performance and productivity. They can increase trust, collaboration and communication, and improve overall performance. This is especially important in today’s business world, where it can be hard to keep everyone in sync.

But it’s not just about getting your team together for a few hours to have fun. If you want to get the most out of your team building event, you need to plan and use activities to help your team develop professionally.

Here are our top tips for creating an engaging teambuilding event:

Make sure it’s relevant to your business goals

Before you even start planning your event, make sure you know what it is you want your team to gain from it. This will help in choosing the activity that suits your event best. A team building exercise might not be appropriate for all types of teams or cultures, but it’s important that you pick something that fits in with the group dynamic and that people will enjoy doing it together.

Keep it simple

Don’t overcomplicate things; keep things simple, fun and easy for everyone involved – especially if you are planning an outdoor event; as we know sometimes the British summer weather doesn’t meet expectations!

Make it fun and challenging

Team building activities don’t have to be boring or serious! We recommend planning an event where everyone can let their hair down and have some fun. It’s important that your team understand that this isn’t about them having to prove themselves or show off their skills (although these may come into play during the activity 😊). If you want your team to get involved, find an activity that will allow them to do so without feeling intimidated by others or pressured.

Get everyone involved

Do some research beforehand – don’t just wing it! If possible, try to find out what activities people would like to do before organising an event so that you can tailor your activities accordingly. It’s also advisable to send out surveys beforehand so people feel they’re being listened to when they fill them in – this will help build trust in your organisation as well as allowing people to voice their opinions openly without fear of judgement or criticism from others in the group

Ask for feedback

It’s important that everyone has a great time at your event! Asking for feedback will allow you to find out what worked well and if any changes could be made next time around. It also gives you an opportunity to highlight potential improvements in future events so that they run smoothly and everyone has fun!
